Whitehall’s Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA) was one of the most significant policy debates in the first half of 2025. Fairer Energy Future, a coaltion of energy organisations, were concerned that zonal energy pricing would create different electricity prices in different regions based on local generation and demand, as such leading to higher bills, particularly for the poorest in society, and potentially slow down the transition to clean power.
MessageSpace partnered with Fairer Energy Future to deliver a targeted paid media campaign that made their message unmissable to those in DESNZ and No.10, and helped to ensure their preferred policy outcome was realised. By placing advertisements in trusted publications Labour MPs actually read on a daily basis, we were able to reach them right when they were consuming content and shaping their decisions during the debate period.
Results:
- The campaign was placed across two of the most prominent Labour-focused publications in Westminster ~ LabourList and New Statesman
- Delivered cross-media placements, online and print, during crucial parliamentary discussions surrounding Zonal energy policy
- Exceeded industry benchmark click-though-rates, with formats reaching impressive highs of 0.66%
- Secured a cover wrap and a full page print Op-Ed in the New Statesman magazine’s Easter special edition
- Successfully influenced the REMA outcome: The UK government declared it will not introduce zonal electricity pricing in the UK
