Electrical Safety Council

Building Regulatory Momentum in Parliament

The Electrical Safety Council aims to ensure that everyone in the UK can use electricity safely, working with government, industry, and consumers to improve regulation, standards, and awareness. MessageSpace has worked closely on the “Electrical Safety First” campaign since 2022, and since then, their political influence has grown considerably, moving from parliamentary submissions and APPG activities to achieving actual legislative commitments – for example the announcement of the ‘Product Safety and Metrology Bill’ in the King’s Speech in July 2024.

Our work on the “Electrical Safety First” campaign is a fantastic example of how strategic advertising isn’t just about making people aware of something. It’s about building serious momentum where it counts – right inside Parliament. MessageSpace frequently secured digital and print advertising placements across platforms MPs and policymakers choose to visit regularly, ensuring guaranteed media visibility while decisions about product safety and regulation were made in parliament.

Results since 2022:

  • Over eight million impressions delivered to target MPs, decison-makers and political stakeholders
  • Secured prominent placements on politically influential platforms, including the New Statesman, LabourList, The Times, and Guido Fawkes, significantly boosting its profile within political discourse
  • Exceeded industry benchmark click-though-rates, with formats reaching impressive highs of 0.2%
  • Frequent MessageSpace campaigns contributed to the crucial announcement of the ‘Product Safety and Metrology Bill’, marking a significant step towards improved electrical safety
